Botox injection is a wrinkle reduction procedure that can reduce or eliminate wrinkles, including frown lines between the eyes, crow’s feet and forehead wrinkles. It may be combined with other procedures such as forehead lift, eyelid lift or chemical peels. The chemical is injected into the face with a very small needle and continues to work for an average of four to six months.

Prior to the injection of this material, there will be a complete discussion of medications and history taking along with examination of the patient.

Botox is contraindicated in women who are pregnant or nursing. Some patients complain of transient, flu-like symptoms, although this passes very quickly. The chemical takes from 24 hours to seven days to weaken and decrease the muscle movement in the face.
