Many aging baby boomers and previous facelift patients are looking for an alternative to the traditional face lift procedure. This procedure is indicated for those who have begun to show the early signs of aging, previously undergone a facelift operation and patients with an inherited or traumatic facial disharmony. Patients with severe acne scarring have also been very pleased with their results.

With tighter schedules and less time off to recover, patients are looking for methods of reversing the aging process which remain safe and very effective. With the use of lipo-sculpture of the jawline or jowl, neck and facial fatty deposits along with tightening the skin under the chin area, rejuvenation of the face and neck are obtained. When one adds lipotransfer (fat removed from the abdomen, thigh or hip re-injected into the lips and cheeks with small needles) and chemical peels or laser resurfacing, the cosmetic results in many of these patients are comparable to the results of a standard facelift.

The second phase of the revised weekend facelift process is the lipo or fat transfer procedure. Lipotransfer includes removal of unwanted fatty deposits from the abdomen, thigh or hip area and re-injecting this material into needed areas of the face, lips and cheeks. This contours the face by filling in wrinkles and folds around the mouth, plumping up the lips and raising saggy cheekbones. Knowing that only about 50% of the patient’s fat cells injected survive, we over correct slightly at the time of the surgery for the best possible results.

The third phase of the process includes a chemical peel, which tightens the skin and encourages collagen production. These peels can be of varying strengths to suit the patient’s goals. These treatments also help reduce the superficial wrinkles and lighten the complexion. This combination of procedures has the effects of transforming the drooping, “box-like” face to a more youthful “tear dropped” appearance again and restoring facial features to an appealing balance and harmony.

A shorter recovery time, a combination of customized techniques and a reasonable cost create a more youthful appearance with improved safety and predictability.
