Drooping of the outer ends of the eyebrows is frequently one of the first stages of aging and caused the upper lids to bulge and descend until they seem to lie on the eyelashes themselves. Patients often complain that their eyes appear to be getting smaller or deeper-set and that any mascara or eyelid liner usually ends up high on the upper part of the lids a short while after it has been applied.

An endoscopic browlift is a surgical way of lifting the eyebrows by creating five or six smaller incisions placed in or near the hair-bearing scalp by utilizing special instruments. The brow is freed from the underlying attachments, allowing it to be moved into a more suitable position. By utilizing the endoscopic technique, there is less swelling, less bruising and usually a quicker recovery and return to daily activities.

The coronal browlift is primarily done for drooping of the outer 1/3 of the brow, which often causes the patient to look sad or unhappy. It is often done for frown lines that cause an angry or scowling look. A coronal lift is a surgical procedure performed in the hair-line above the forehead, elevating the upper 1/3 of the face which consists of the eyebrows and forehead. The browlift is a procedure that can be done alone or in conjunction with a facelift or other surgical procedures. Primary indications are the drooping of the eyebrows, forehead wrinkles and furrows between the brows at the bridge of the nose.

Endoscopic browlift is a controlled elevation of the forehead and brow using endoscopic controlled release of facial skin attachments around the brow. This enables the surgeon to directly visualize the surgery with small incisions and results in a shorter healing time and less recovery.

Q&A

What is the difference between an endoscopic browlift and blepharoplasty?
Blepharoplasty is used to remove the thin, excess skin in the eyelid as well as the associated fat beneath. The browlift raises the brow, thus making the eye appear “more open”.
