This procedure is usually performed under local anesthesia using tumescent solution, this is diluted saline and lidocaine (numbing medication). The ultrasonically assisted liposuction complements liposculpture. The high-frequency sound waves enable us to remove difficult fibrous fatty deposits, achieve smoother results and aspirate more fat. These fat cells are permanently removed and unless you were to gain an additional 100 lbs., the remaining fat cells will not balloon up out of proportion to the surrounding areas that existed prior to your liposuction. Prior to your surgery, a complete discussion of your medical history and desires will be reviewed along with a complete physical examination. Photographs of your face and body will be taken for your medical record. The most common questions asked with liposuction are: Is this permanent? Is it safe? Will the fat return if I gain weight? The body makes a certain number of fat cells. A few fat cells will be left behind to contour this skin level between the skin and muscle layer of your body. If you gained weight, these particular cells will continue to grow and get larger. The procedure is very safe in an outpatient setting under a local anesthetic with a designated, predetermined amount of fat removal. This predetermination will also take into account the medical board recommendations for safety. Patients who have this procedure usually are back to work in three to five days and resume normal activity within three weeks. Another question quite often asked: What would be the optimal weight for me to have this surgery. The answer is the weight at which you feel the most comfortable and at which you feel as though you can contain. More before and after images - click here >
